our company
Philpott Communications is a team of writers, designers, web developers and filmmakers. Headquartered in Richmond Hill, just north of Toronto, we are one of the few communications firms in North America focused on film and broadcast.
Founded by Eric Philpott as “Communications That Work,” we have been in business since 2001. From the beginning, the company has worked with arts and technology clients, areas which dovetail perfectly in the realm of film and broadcast.
During our first month in business, we received an email from IRIDAS, makers of FrameCycler and SpeedGrade, asking for help with their communications. This seven-year relationship put us into direct contact with pioneers in VFX and digital technologies and the company was soon writing stories about seminal events in the industry. Parallel with that, the company served other clients, where we honed our skills in presenting complex, new technologies.
Throughout our ten-year history, we have worked with overseas clients, including companies in Germany, The Netherlands, Australia and the US. Through them we have spoken with hundreds of other companies in every part of the world.
Today, Philpott Communications is focused on its core strengths in film and broadcast, offering integrated communications services for all areas of production, postproduction and independent film promotion.
About Eric Philpott
While at University, Eric ran “International Cinema,” selecting films, promoting the series, and giving short introductions at each screening. As the son of an engineer, he grew up understanding the importance of relating technical information with clarity and precision. Teaching history and languages for 14 years in Germany, the US and Canada, allowed him to hone his skills as a storyteller, and as a manager of people and processes. In the 1990s Eric started doing freelance communications work, formally launching this company in 2001. Eric is a musician and performs locally with his band “The Elementals.”
