Qube Cinema will be demonstrating its system for integrated 4K DCP review and playback at the NAB Show in Las Vegas in April. The Qube XP-I server, Xi 4K Integrated Media Block (IMB) and the Quad 3G interface for digital cinema projectors allow integrated postproduction and digital cinema mastering workflows. Postproduction facilities with 4K DI suites are now able to use one projector setup for both HD-4K uncompressed color grading and 2K-4K digital cinema playback providing comprehensive review and quality control with this one Qube system.

Qube Cinema Delivers HFR 3D Technology for World Premieres of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

Qube XP-I Server and Xi Integrated Media Blocks Used at Wellington and London Premieres

Qube Cinema provided the High Frame Rate (HFR) server technology for the world premiere of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, a production of New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures (MGM), on the Titan XC screen at the Reading Courtenay theater in Wellington, NZ on Nov. 28. The Qube equipment was also used for the London premiere at the Empire Leicester Square on Dec. 12. The Qube XP-I server was chosen to stream a high bit rate DCP at 48 fps stereoscopic 3D to two Qube Xi Integrated Media Blocks (IMBs). The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is the first film to be distributed at this new higher frame rate, among all of the standard formats.

Qube Cinema recently supplied its XP-I server and Xi 4K Integrated Media Blocks (IMBs) for Global Immersion’s first GSX giant flat screen theater installed at the Peoria Riverfront Museum (PRM) in Illinois. This 4K 3D system brings the world’s highest resolution digital giant screen display to the newly opened theater.
