Modus Makes Magic for Now You See Me

Montreal Facility Delivers 227 VFX Shots for Magician Heist Film

Montreal, QC: May 31, 2013… Modus FX completed many of the key visual effects shots on Now You See Me, which was released today in theaters. Featuring a high-voltage ensemble cast, including Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Morgan Freeman, Woody Harrelson and rising star Isla Fisher, Now You See Me charts the progress of a team of illusionists who appear to rob banks during their performances, distributing the spoils to their audiences, all the while staying a step ahead of the FBI and Interpol. Modus was charged with many of the film’s CG sequences, creating compelling illusions that support the story and drive the narrative forward.

Modus FX a créé plusieurs des effets visuels clés pour Now You See Me, film sorti aujourd’hui en salles. Avec une distribution de haut niveau, incluant Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Morgan Freeman, Woody Harrelson et l’étoile montante Isla Fisher, Now You See Me retrace l’évolution d’une équipe d’illusionnistes qui semblent voler des banques au même moment qu’ils se produisent sur scène afin de distribuer le butin à l’auditoire, tout en se jouant du FBI et d’Interpol. Modus a reçu le mandat de produire de multiples effets numériques, créant des illusions convaincantes qui soutiennent l’histoire et servent le rythme endiablé du film.


Behind the Making of The Legend of Sarila – A Northernstars Exclusive

When the animated feature The Legend of Sarila opens tomorrow it will be making film history in Canada. According to the producers behind the film, 10th Avenue Films and Carpe Diem, it is only the third feature-length animated film to be made in Canada and it is the very first to be made in 3D. A project that began as a script in 2001 has taken a long time to finally come to the screen and it features the voices of some of the country’s best including Christopher Plummer and Geneviève Bujold.

Modus FX announces the appointment of Anne Le Bouyonnec as VP production. Le Bouyonnec will act as liaison between executive management and the production team on the studio floor. She will be responsible for ensuring that on-floor production requirements are met, while overseeing resources and budgets. Le Bouyonnec brings over 25 years of artistic and organizational experience in the CG and VFX industry in Quebec to her new position, strengthening the executive team at Modus.

Modus FX completed 194 shots in a remarkable eight weeks for Mirror Mirror, Tarsem Singh’s whimsical adaptation of the popular Snow White folk story. Modern-day behavior and speech are set in a rich fairytale world, creating a light-hearted coming-of-age story for audiences of all ages. While larger-than-life characters, such as the wicked queen, played by Julia Roberts, drive the narrative, the sets and costumes are crucial for establishing the magic and the feel of the film.
